Kuala Lumpur · Est. Watch Care
Where every pivot
finds its proper place
Jewel Bearing attends to mechanical watches with patience and precision. From escapement care to hairspring refinement — work done at the pace the movement deserves.
What We Do
Three areas of focused care
Each service is handled with consideration for the watch's age, condition, and character. We work slowly, and we work well.
Escapement Service
Focused attention on the escapement — the heart of a mechanical watch. Pallet and escape wheel inspection, jewel assessment, and careful adjustment to restore consistent beat and amplitude.
- Pallet fork and escape wheel inspection
- Timing report upon completion
- Duration: 3–4 weeks
Hairspring Adjustment
Delicate work on the balance spring to correct isochronism and positional variance. Carried out by experienced hands using precision tools, following a consultation on the watch's history and symptoms.
- Isochronism correction
- Available standalone or with overhaul
- Duration: 2–3 weeks
Movement Cleaning & Lubrication
A careful cleaning and re-oiling service for watches showing minor performance changes. Disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, appropriate lubrication, and reassembly with basic regulation.
- Ultrasonic cleaning process
- Appropriate grade oils used
- Duration: 3–5 weeks
Why Jewel Bearing
Considered work, without shortcuts
Component-Level Attention
Every service starts with a thorough assessment. We examine individual components rather than applying blanket procedures, so the work matches what the movement actually needs.
Realistic Timelines
We do not rush. Each service window is set to allow for careful work and post-service observation before return. You will know the expected timeframe from the outset.
Transparent Reporting
Where relevant, a timing report or condition note accompanies the returned watch. You receive a clear account of what was found, what was done, and the movement's current state.
Precision Tooling
Work on fine mechanical movements requires tools calibrated to the task. Ultrasonic cleaning, timing machines, and hand tools are maintained to the standard the work demands.
Owner Consultation
Before committing to any service, we discuss the watch's history and your concerns. This conversation often shapes the approach and helps avoid unnecessary intervention.
Bukit Bintang Workshop
Our workshop in Kuala Lumpur is accessible and convenient. Drop-off, consultation, and collection in person — no couriering required unless preferred.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked
How do I begin a service request?
The simplest way is to send us a message through the contact form below, or call the workshop directly. We will arrange an initial consultation — either in person at our Bukit Bintang premises or by phone — before any work is agreed upon.
What watches do you work on?
Our focus is mechanical movements — manual-wind and automatic watches. We are experienced with a range of Swiss and Japanese calibers. If you are unsure whether your watch is suitable, do get in touch and we can advise.
Why do the services take several weeks?
Fine mechanical work cannot be hurried without risk. After the main service, a watch is worn or wound through a period of observation to confirm performance is stable across positions and temperatures before it is returned. The timeframes given are honest ones.
Are parts sourced if needed during a service?
If a component requires replacement, we discuss this with you before proceeding. We do not fit parts without owner agreement, and where options exist between new and old-stock components, we will explain the difference.
What are your payment terms?
Payment is made upon collection of the completed watch. We accept bank transfer (DuitNow) and cash at the workshop. Service prices are as listed and agreed in writing before work begins — no surprises at the end.
Can I send my watch by courier?
Yes, we do accept watches sent by courier within Malaysia. We recommend using a tracked, insured service. Please contact us first so we can advise on packaging and confirm details before despatch.
