Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 16 April 2025

Please read these terms carefully before using our services. By engaging Jewel Bearing for watch repair, you agree to the conditions set out below. If anything is unclear, you are welcome to contact us before proceeding.

1. About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of watch repair and related services by Jewel Bearing ("we", "us", "our") to clients ("you", "your") at our workshop located at 34 Jalan Bukit Bintang, 55100 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They apply each time you bring a watch to us, request a quotation, or use our website at jewelbea.live.

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force at the time you place your watch with us will apply to that engagement.

2. Services We Offer

Jewel Bearing provides specialist mechanical watch repair services, currently including:

Prices and service descriptions are subject to change. The price confirmed in your written quotation is the one that will apply to your job.

3. Quotations and Acceptance

All work begins with an inspection. We will provide a written quotation before any repair work is carried out. A quotation constitutes an offer to perform the described work at the stated price. Work proceeds only once you provide written or verbal confirmation of acceptance.

Where additional work is identified during a service, we will contact you before proceeding. We will not carry out unauthorised work without your consent.

4. Timelines

The durations given for each service are indicative estimates based on typical cases. Actual completion times may vary depending on the condition of the watch, parts availability, and workshop scheduling. We will keep you informed if we anticipate a significant departure from the estimate given at intake.

We are not liable for loss or inconvenience arising from delays that are beyond our reasonable control.

5. Collection and Custody of Watches

When you leave a watch with us, we will issue a written receipt. Please retain this — it is required for collection.

We take reasonable care of all items entrusted to us. Our liability for loss or damage while a watch is in our custody is limited to the fair market value of the watch at the time it was received, up to a maximum of RM 5,000, unless a higher valuation is declared in writing at the time of intake and accepted by us.

Watches not collected within 90 days of completion notification will be subject to a storage fee of RM 15 per week. Watches uncollected after 12 months may be dealt with in accordance with Malaysian law on abandoned property.

6. Payment

Payment is due in full upon collection of the watch. We accept cash, bank transfer, and major debit/credit cards. We do not release watches before payment is received.

If you cancel a job after work has commenced, we reserve the right to charge for work completed to that point, assessed on a reasonable basis.

7. Workmanship

We stand behind the quality of our work. If you experience a fault directly related to a completed service within 60 days of collection, please return the watch and we will assess the matter without charge. This does not cover faults arising from misuse, accidental damage, or conditions unrelated to the service performed.

This workmanship commitment is in addition to, and does not limit, your statutory rights under Malaysian consumer law.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you arising from any service engagement is limited to the price paid for that service. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses, including but not limited to sentimental or collectible value beyond market value.

We do not accept liability for pre-existing faults or conditions in a watch that were not related to the service performed.

9. Vintage and High-Value Watches

For watches of significant age or value, we recommend that you declare the estimated value in writing at the time of intake. Clients are encouraged to hold appropriate insurance for watches in transit to and from our workshop, as our custody liability does not extend to transit.

We reserve the right to decline any watch that we assess as presenting an unreasonable risk to our staff or equipment.

10. Intellectual Property

All content on our website — including text, photography, illustrations, and design elements — is the property of Jewel Bearing or used with appropriate permission. You may not reproduce, copy, or redistribute any website content without our written consent.

11. Privacy

Your personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of the agreement between us. By engaging our services, you consent to the handling of your data as described in that document.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
