Our Story
The workshop behind the work
A focused practice in Bukit Bintang, built around careful attention to the mechanical watches that come through our door.
Back to HomeAbout Us
Jewel Bearing
Jewel Bearing came together gradually, the way most workshops do — through years spent handling movements of varying age and condition, and through a growing conviction that the work deserved more patience than it often receives.
We are based in Jalan Bukit Bintang, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The location is convenient, but the workshop is quiet — which is how we prefer it. Mechanical work benefits from unhurried focus.
Our three services — escapement care, hairspring adjustment, and movement cleaning — reflect the areas where we have developed the deepest familiarity. We are not generalists. We work within a defined scope and do that work carefully.
When a watch arrives with us, the first step is always a conversation. We want to understand the owner's history with the piece, what they have noticed, and what they are hoping for. That consultation shapes everything that follows.
Our Mission
To attend carefully to each watch that comes to us, and return it to its owner in better condition than it arrived — without promises we cannot keep, and without work that was not needed.
Our Values
- Honesty in assessment and communication
- Restraint — only doing what is needed
- Patience in execution and timeline
- Respect for the watch and its owner

How We Work
Standards we maintain
These are not marketing claims — they are the practices that shape each service we carry out.
Watch Security
Each watch is logged upon arrival with a condition note. Movements are stored in individual trays to prevent contact with other work in progress.
Visual Inspection Protocol
All work begins with a systematic visual inspection before any component is removed. This shapes the service scope and prevents unnecessary disassembly.
Correct Lubrication
We use watch-grade oils matched to the relevant bearing type and operating range. Universal lubricants are not applied to precision mechanical movements.
Timing Verification
Where timing measurement is relevant to the service, we record results across multiple positions using a timing machine, and these are available to the owner on request.
Data Privacy
Client contact details are held for service communication only and are not shared with third parties. We comply with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010.
Written Agreement
Service scope and pricing are confirmed in writing before work begins. No additional work is carried out without owner approval — ever.
Mechanical watch care in Kuala Lumpur
Jewel Bearing operates from Jalan Bukit Bintang, attending to the kind of work that requires patience: escapement regulation, balance spring refinement, and movement cleaning for mechanical timepieces showing the wear of regular use.
The workshop serves owners throughout the Klang Valley and accepts watch submissions from other parts of Malaysia by arrangement. Our approach is shaped by the understanding that fine mechanical movements are not interchangeable — each requires individual assessment before any service is agreed.
In a city where horology has a long tradition — from family heirloom pieces to contemporary mechanical watches — we position ourselves as a steady, careful option for owners who want honest work at a fair price, without the pressure of up-selling or unnecessary procedures.
