What We Offer
Three services, done well
Our scope is deliberately narrow. Escapement care, hairspring work, and movement cleaning — each handled with the same careful approach.

How we approach each service
Every watch that comes to Jewel Bearing follows the same careful process, regardless of which service is being carried out.
Consultation
We discuss the watch's history and your observations before any work is agreed.
Assessment
A systematic visual and functional inspection establishes the movement's actual condition.
Service
The agreed work is carried out methodically, with no deviation from the agreed scope without your approval.
Observation & Return
The watch is worn or wound through an observation period before it is returned to you.
Service 01
Escapement Service
The escapement is the component that divides time — a small assembly of pallet fork, escape wheel, and jewels that must work together within very fine tolerances. When it is not functioning correctly, the watch runs fast, slow, or inconsistently across positions.
Our escapement service begins with a careful inspection of each component, followed by cleaning, re-jewelling where needed, and fine adjustment to restore correct beat and consistent amplitude. A timing report is provided at completion.
Pallet fork and escape wheel inspection
Jewel condition assessment
Beat error and amplitude correction
Timing report included with service
Service 02
Hairspring Adjustment
The balance spring — the hairspring — is one of the most delicate and important components in a mechanical watch. Its geometry determines whether the watch keeps consistent time across different positions and temperatures. Adjusting it requires experience, patience, and appropriate tooling.
This service addresses isochronism and positional variance. It may be carried out as part of a broader overhaul, or as a standalone correction following consultation with the watch's owner. We do not modify the spring unless there is a clear reason to do so.
Isochronism assessment and correction
Positional variance evaluation
Owner consultation before any modification
Available standalone or combined with overhaul
Service 03
Movement Cleaning & Lubrication
Lubricants in mechanical movements degrade over time, becoming viscous or drying out entirely. A watch that is running slightly slow, losing power reserve, or running inconsistently between service intervals is often due for cleaning and re-oiling — not a full overhaul.
This service involves careful disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning of parts, application of the correct oils to each bearing and pivot, and reassembly with basic regulation. It is a suitable option for movements in reasonable mechanical health.
Full disassembly and parts inventory
Ultrasonic cleaning of movement components
Correct-grade oil selection by component
Reassembly with basic regulation

Standards
Practices shared across all services
Security & Privacy
Watches are logged on arrival and stored individually. Client details held under PDPA 2010 compliance.
Correct Lubricants
Watch-grade oils appropriate to each component and its operating characteristics — never generic substitutes.
Written Agreements
Price and scope agreed before work begins. No additions without your approval.
Post-Service Observation
All watches go through a running-in period before return to confirm performance is stable.
Service Documentation
A written record accompanies each returned watch, detailing work done and condition notes.
Post-Return Follow-up
We remain available by phone or email for questions after your watch has been returned.
Next Step
Tell us about your watch
We are happy to discuss which service might be appropriate before anything is committed. A brief description of what you have noticed is a good starting point.
